I have tiles pinned on an online dashboard and I was hoping I could customize them somehow to distinguish between certain organizational metrics. I was hoping I could change a tile's background color or add a border or some visual element, but it does not look like you can customize an individual tile. Are there any ideas or workarounds out there to be able to visually distinguish say 2 tiles from one another, from a formatting/design perspective?

you can edit dashboard theme by using this function, however, it's impossible to modify the theme of particular visual.
here is a workaround: modify the subtitle,
but if you really need the function to modify theme of single visual, I suggest you create an idea for it in
https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas to improve the power bi.

the formatting comes from the source report, so you could add the change there. If you only want it on the dashboard, you'd have to:
