Gateway is configured correctly but is unreachable due to local network connectivity

I am installing / setting up a new gateway in personal mode. I am behind a corporate firewall and I am using a proxy server.

The Gateway is running in HTTPS mode as the proxy only allows traffic on ports 443 and 80.

The proxy settings seem to be correct as the network test shows 22/22 test successfull, with the detailed reults showing all going via the proxy.

The gateway is successfully registered and is visible but showing as offline in my powerbi workspace.

I have allowed all the end-points in this site: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/service-gateway-communication

I have made all the config changes across the four files as outlined here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/service-gateway-proxy

I have also followed everything on this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/service-gateway-proxy-setup-guide

I'm running gateway version 3000.274.3 (June 2025)

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I else I can try?

Thanks, I just told my network guys that the proxy set up was too hard and they set up firewall rules instead.
There are 100s of posts across the web of people struggling with getting proxy setups working, its clearly a bit of a gap for this application.
Thanks for your help none-the-less.

What is your rationale for using Personal mode?

It seemed like the right choice for my scenario.

I am the only one creating PBI reports, it is only required for PBI. The gateway will run under a service account that has access to the SQL DB that is the source for the reports.

Be aware that a Personal gateway is an app on your PC. The PC must stay on, and the app must be open.

A better choice is an Enterprise gateway on a VM that runs 24x7 as a service.

i have installed it on a VM that is always up

Which version did you install?

I'm running gateway version 3000.274.3 (June 2025)

Have you uninstalled the Personal gateway and installed the Standard/Enterprise gateway?

Happy for you - I wish I could eliminate the proxy in my setup.  Its performance impact is substantial, and it is a single point of failure.  When the proxy is down all of Power BI is down.
