Hi!
My datasource is an on-prem SQL Server. In the PBI Desktop it's possible to leave the database name blank and to pull all the databases from the server. But when I go to the PBI Service I can't use the gateway as it requires the database name to work. Are there any workarounds how to make it work?

Hi,
There is no way. Every database you use, have to be added to the gateway in the service. Thats just how it works. Add or remove a gateway data source - Power BI | Microsoft Docs This link can walk you through how.
Thanks.
Hi @Igorpole,
For SQL Server, you need provide the Server and Database.
And then you can add datasource in manage gateway.

Hi,
The only reason that it doesn't require it in PBI Desktop is because it allows you to select it after you connect to the server. Our primary Data Source is also SQL Server and I have found now other way than to give the gateway the database as well.
Hi! And could you share this way? )
