Gateway connection to a Postgres DB on cloud (I can t admin this server)

Hi

I m new in gateway. I did not choose a personal gateway.

I m trying to connect to a DB which is host in cloud by elephantsql.

I can connect to this db with powerbi desktop with no issue.

bu I cannot connect via gateway. error is : 

Unable to connect to undefined datasource

error Code -2147467259

Can someone help me to undestand what I can do.

first off cloud data sources do not require a gateway (assuming that the Azure Service can reach your data source)

what is your connection definition on the gateway?

you don't.  If your dataset refreshes without needing a gateway then Azure service can reach your data source.

Issues can be that your data source is actually on-prem, or that the authentication you use is not understood by the Power BI service.

Actually, I m able to refresh data source on power bi desktop. But in power bi services, I ve this message :

Refersh failed due to data set needs to be correctly configure on gateway...

And then I want to add dataset to gateway but it does not work... (i use same credentials as for power bi desktop which works well)...

Any idea ?

Please post the actual error message.

However this would point to the scenario where your data source is actually on-premise. In which case, yes, you need a gateway.

Refresh failed due to gateway configuration issues.

This dataset requires a properly configured gateway to update.

If you are using personal mode, verify that your gateway is online.

If you are using enterprise mode, verify that you have added the following data sources in the Gateway Management Portal

PostgreSql { server : "drona.db.elephantsql.com" , database : "xxxxx" }

Please try to downgrade the version of NpgSQL to NpgSQL 4.0.10, then check if the problem still persist. You can review the following documentations for more details.
