Gateway Data source reporting

I am the admin of an On-Premise Data Gateway.  How do I tell what reports are using a Data source for refresh on the Gateway?  Is there a report that can show this information?

Hi @Anonymous !

You can leverage the Power BI REST APIs to get the information you need. Most parts are also possible using the Power BI PowerShell cmdlets, based on whatever your preference is.

Steps/information you'll need.

  • Get an overview of the datasources that are running on the gateway you want to check (Get Datasources)
  • Get Refresh Schedules for datasets leveraging these datasources (Get Refresh Schedule)

I do suggest you look the Power BI Log Analytics Starter Kit by Nassim Kasdali. It will contain pretty much all the information you need (and more), and comes accompanied with so useful explanations to get started.

Hi @Anonymous

Please try this way to get Power Bi Service active log in admin center: Blog

You can get report log, gateway log and other logs by select user as below.

Or you can call active event rest api: Blog

Hey @Anonymous ,

there is a report from Microsoft that is analyzing the Gateway logs. Check out the following article (contains also the link for the report template):

Monitor and optimize on-premises data gateway performance | Microsoft Docs

As far as I know that's the only option at the moment.

If you need any help please let me know.
If I answered your question I would be happy if you could mark my post as a solution ✔️ and give it a thumbs up 👍

Best regards
Denis
