Hi Guys,
I am a beginner and currently working on my 1st Project where I want to on refreshing my data after publishing it to powerBI service.
I have two data sources, One in in SQL Workbench and other is Excel Files.
I tried installing On Premises Personal Gateway and created a gateway
Here, I can't connect the gateway to the SQL server.
This error message pops up but the excel files do get connected.
So, I tried setting the standard On-Premises data gateway.
Here, I can configure the database onto the Gateway but the excel files donot get added to the gateway with the following error.
Could you please help me through the process. I am stuck here for 4 days as I tried getting help and tried fixinf it on my own but alas.
Thanks in Advance.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The enterprise gateway is usually installed on a Windows Server VM in your company's on-premise environment. It has no idea what you mean by "C:\". You should place your Excel files into a location that is accessible by the gateway. Ideally, place the Excel files into a SharePoint/OneDrive - then you don't even need a gateway.
Do not install the gateway on the same machine as the SQL server. That will not end well.

Yeah, that was it man.
Thank you for the help.
I uploaded the files on Google Drive and then, got the sharing link as editor and used it as the data source.
Thanks so much.
