I have configured the finance report app but the G/Account  Hierarchy in the app is pulling the beginning totals Name of the COA instead of the End Totals. is there a way to change this?

Hi @GCapron1,

Thank you for your response. I understand that you are using the Finance Power BI App for Business Central and that the G/L Account Hierarchy is showing Beginning Total accounts instead of the expected End Total accounts. Given that this is a pre-configured app, customization options are limited. However, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Please navigate to the G/L Account Hierarchy visual. Expand the hierarchy levels and verify if drilling down enables the display of End-Totals instead of Begin-Totals. If feasible, adjust the hierarchy view to emphasize summary totals.
  • Please review the Chart of Accounts (COA) setup. Ensure that the End-Totals are accurately structured and appropriately linked in the hierarchy. If modifications are permitted, adjust the COA setup to correctly display End-Totals in the reports.
  • If the issue continues and app changes aren't feasible, your organization might need to create a custom Power BI report with Business Central data to ensure correct End-Totals display.
  • In Power BI, please open the Filters Pane and check for an Account Type filter. If available, filter the data to display only End-Total accounts instead of Begin-Total. Apply the filter and verify whether the hierarchy updates as expected.

Hi @GCapron1,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Fabric Community.

I understand that your Finance report shows the beginning total names in the G/L Account Hierarchy rather than the end totals from the Chart of Accounts (COA). Follow the steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  • Please ensure that your fact table is correctly linked to the dimension table. In Model View, verify that the relationship is set to one-to-many.
  • If your totals are calculated using a DAX measure, please ensure it aggregates end-of-period balances rather than summing from the start.
  • Please ensure that your report filters, such as fiscal year, quarter, or month-end, are correctly applied. If you notice any issues with the hierarchy filtering, verify whether an unintended slicer or filter might be affecting your totals.
  • In the Hierarchy Table or Matrix Visual, please ensure the correct measure is selected and that totals are displayed correctly. Review both the subtotal and grand total settings for accuracy.
