Failed to build connection in pbi service

I'm checking your support to understand the connection failed over when I need to build new connections.

I can input the credential of the old connection, but not for new one. Please advice,

Thanks All for your input,

Actually I still didn't find why the existing connection working well with user/pwd authentication in existing report, but not able to create new connection with different directory in (folder/ file/ sharepoint...).

@Anonymous can you check more whether any restriction in Admin role to revoke create new connection?

If no stoper, we can have quick sharing on Monday Oct 21 2024, at 11AM China-time?

Hi, @Thas_Michael

The status code is 400, which means that the Power BI service cannot connect to your data, your data source is not unreachable.
Here are the steps you need to take:
You need to make sure that the credentials provided are the same as in Power BI desktop:

Solved: Re: Status 400 Error when setting up an SQL Gatewa... - Microsoft Fabric Community

Please ensure that the credentials you provide currently have sufficient permissions to access the contents:

Additionally, you need to ensure that your data sources do not intercept requests to the Power BI service.

Hi Jianpeng,

Actually I tried to apply the same credential with multiple-existing connections (folder/ sharepoint), it worked well.

I'm checking whether any feature of admin to stop us defining new connection in PBI service? If yes, please help to share screen-shot,

Thanks,

Thanh

Hi, @Thas_Michael

If you create a gateway connection to Sharepoint, you only need to check whether you have the appropriate permissions to access the data in it. You can check it by following the steps of the official documentation:

Power Query SharePoint folder connector - Power Query | Microsoft Learn

Try to connect SharePoint via the gateway:

Try to connect SharePoint via the cloud:

Hi, @Thas_Michael

Thank you very much for your reply.

This is probably because the administrator in your organization has set a policy that prevents you from logging in. You can check the following post:

Azure sign-in error 53003. "Access has been blocked by Conditional Access policies" and Conditional ...

If you need online technical support, you need to ask your administrator to open a support ticket.

Hi,
Your error indicates that the data source credentials are not correct.
if you use the Power BI Gateway, this error typically indicates a "Bad Request." It can occur due to authentication issues
