Hi,
A new issue it seems - I am getting on the below messages on my credentials (for databases) within Power BI Service.
This is on a newly uploaded file, which refreshes fine with desktop, and other reports within service use the exact same connection and refresh fine within Power BI service - its connection to our two main databases so we've got 30+ datasets that all uses them in some capacity.
However, even existing ones show this error as well when I check, but do refresh if I trigger it within service, but any new reports, like this one, fail on refresh and I can't set up new schedules.
Only started in the last day or so. Is this a bug within Power BI Service at present?
As I say, all connections refresh fine in Desktop, and existing reports in Service (not uploaded in the last day or so) continue to refresh upon schedule and manually.
When I do try to edit the credentials and re-enter the user name and password I get the following error, which leads me to believe this is an error on Microsofts side.

Hi, @MainlineData
Thank you very much for your reply. This is documented in the official documentation:
Power Query MySQL database connector - Power Query | Microsoft Learn
As mentioned earlier, you can connect to MySQL using a standard gateway (Enterprise Gateway) or connect to your MySQL using a cloud link.
In addition, you can also refer to the following article to connect to your MySQL using dataflow:

Hi,
On power bi service please check whether the personal gateway connection is coming online or not.And you can check with your tenant admin he will help in setting up an on-premises data gateway connection.
Hi, @MainlineData
In this case, there is an issue with your data source credentials, and you can try creating a new connection in Power BI Service. This connection will connect to your data source, and then configure the current new connection for the newly reported semantic model, instead of updating the credentials.
Also, whether other old reports that you use the current data source will be able to refresh? It's just that your new report has the current refresh error?

Hi,
When I've dug into this further, my core issue is linked to other behaviour that other users have found - that Power BI is treating a mySQL connection as a cloud source when it isn't (and isn't then using on-premise gateway).
See this ticket for best description - https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/PowerBI-Recognizes-mySQL-as-Cloud-based/m-p/384318...
I've just knocked the tower over by trying to investigate why this one report wouldn't work, and now knocked them all over.
I had also checked my credentials multiple times, and tried recreating connections, and even deleting / reuploading.
Hi, @MainlineData
Thanks for your reply. Here's how to fix it: If you can't access the MySQL server in the cloud, you need to switch to using Enterprise Gateway and set up a connection through Enterprise Gateway.

Hi,
I don't really feel like that is an acceptable solution - if Microsoft were planning to stop allowing MySQL connections through a personal gateway, this needs to be communicated out properly. Which tells me this is a bug which needs fixing.
And further guidance is needed on utilising an enterprise gateway (a solution I did try but hit a brick wall with).
Hi, @MainlineData
First, you need to download the Enterprise Gateway, which you can download by clicking on the link below:
Power BI Gateway | Microsoft Power BI
Select the standard mode version to download. After that, you'll need to configure the connection for your semantic model in Power BI Service, filling in the corresponding credentials:

Hi,
As I said - and appreciate it isn't your fault by any stretch - if Microsoft have removed MySQL databases from being used in a personal gateway, this needs to be communicated out as many other users are affected.
Until then, this feels like it is a bug Microsofts side which needs fixing.
If there has been some communication about it not being usable with a personal gateway, then I've not seen it at present.
