Hello

Today i noticed one thing i did change in warehouse dataype change and synced the changes to azure repos at first time and worked as expected.

But when i looked in azure devops commit it is showing one more file xmla.json with some change is it expected. Also sometimes this file xmla.json is committing with warehouse commit and sometimes it is showing as seperate commit after its first sync when we clicked on source control bar after first push. Is this file change is expected or will it show the change for every commit in warehouse like below. Can anyone suggest me is this file changes are expected with every warehouse change just to know.

Hi @Anonymous ,

The warehouse in Microsoft Fabric is a SaaS platform, where activities such as workload management, concurrency, and storage management are managed internally by the platform. In addition to this internal performance management, you can still improve performance by developing high-performance queries against a well-designed warehouse.

Please check the maximum length of your TableName. If your setting is automatically changed from 60 to 70, it may be that the length of your data exceeds 60 and it is automatically expanded; if your setting is automatically changed from 70 to 60, it may be that it is automatically optimized.

For more details, please refer to the document: Warehouse performance guidelines - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

If your Current Period does not refer to this, please clarify in a follow-up reply.

Best Regards,

Clara Gong

@Anonymous

Its not about the size yes table names are below 40 characters only in warehouse we kept it till 60, my ask is whenever i do any change in warehouse like if i do change in view or stored procedure and syncing the changes to azure repo. It will show the sp or view file in commits windows in azure devops right along with that am seeing one more file xmla.json so is this expected change getting pushed to repo every time this is my doubt.

Example like below snip below if we notice along with stored procedure change xmla.json file is also getting committed but there are no changes in it much.
