Fabric Capacity Refresh error: ModelRefresh_ShortMessage_ServiceError

We get this error for scheduled refreshes. Not sure what it means.

ModelRefresh_ShortMessage_ServiceError

serviceExceptionJson: errorCode: ModelRefresh_ShortMessage_ServiceError

What is the meaning of this error code? Is it a transient issue?

HI @lepetap141

Thank you for being part of the Microsoft Fabric Community

Below are the troubleshooting steps that resolve your issue:

->Validate the Dataset Configuration:

Review the dataset configuration is correct and accessible is essential for avoiding refresh errors.

->Analyze Capacity Usage:

Fabric capacity can run into limits, especially in shared or over-utilized environments. Monitoring and optimizing capacity usage can help.

  1. Access Capacity Metrics:
  2. Review Resource Usage:
  3. Upgrade or Scale Capacity:
    • Upgrade to a higher SKU for Premium/Fabric capacity.
    • Allocate more memory or compute resources to your current capacity.
    • If the usage metrics consistently approach limits, you may need to:

-> Review Refresh History

The refresh history provides detailed logs for past refresh attempts, including successes and failures.

Hi @lepetap141

The error ModelRefresh_ShortMessage_ServiceError typically indicates an issue with the model refresh, which could be due to temporary connectivity issues, timeouts, resource constraints, or service-side problems. It might be a transient issue, so try refreshing again later. If it persists, check the service status, review refresh logs, and ensure the data source is accessible with correct credentials. If needed, contact Microsoft support for further help.
