Hello, apologies if this question is redundant but the details around licensing are very confusing for me.
Our organization currently has a report that we use an A1 embedded sku to host on a customer portal, along with other reports that are emailed out as pdfs via PowerAutomate.
I'm needing some of the extras that come with a Fabric F8 license, and since they're essentially the same price I'm hoping this is a seamless swap.
Would changing our A1 license to an F8 Fabric SKU affect either the embedded report or the emailed reports? I'm struggling to know if F8 still allows the embedding like the A1 sku does and if it's a simple transition.
Thanks for any help anybody can provide. Firsthand experience feedback would be appreciated!

Hi @gberk92 ,
Firstly, it's important to note that the A1 embedded SKU is specifically designed for embedding Power BI content, such as paginated reports, into applications. This SKU provides dedicated capacity with resources allocated for your application's use, ensuring consistent performance. For more details on A1 embedded SKU, you can refer to the Power BI Embedded documentation.
On the other hand, the Fabric F8 license is part of Microsoft Fabric's licensing, which is aimed at providing a comprehensive analytics solution covering data movement, data science, Real-Time Analytics, and business intelligence. While the documentation does not explicitly mention the F8 license in the context of Power BI content embedding, it's crucial to understand that Microsoft Fabric and Power BI Embedded serve different purposes and their licenses might not be directly interchangeable for specific functionalities such as embedding.
I think you can do these steps below:
If your primary requirement is to continue embedding Power BI reports into a customer portal, you'll need to ensure that the Fabric F8 license supports this functionality. Since the documentation does not explicitly mention embedding capabilities for F8, I recommend verifying the features included in the F8 license and whether it meets your embedding needs.
Transitioning from an A1 to an F8 license involves understanding the differences in features, capacity, and functionality between these licenses. It's not just a simple swap, as each license caters to different needs and capabilities.
