Greetings, I currently have a PowerBI Pro license.
I had built a space just for external users. The shared link could previously be easily accessed by external users (with a PowerBI Free account). But now, It looks like they no longer have access to it.
Do they need to buy a license just to view the dashboard?
Thanks for your response! Can you explain more about this capacity and how it works?
Hi. If you mean dedicated capacity. That would be license Premium or Fabric (new one). You can check this video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgjnjXkEnPw&themeRefresh=1
It's kind of expensive if you think in a small number of users.
I hope that helps,

Hi. Every pro user activity it's in shared capacity. Unless you have a diamon that means dedicated capacity (premium, fabric), then the viewers also need pro. They might have been able to read with the pro trial. Guests also need licenses.
I hope that helps,

Hi, can you help me understand this statement from Feature availability for users with Free licenses in the Power BI service - Power BI | Microsoft Lea.... It says that "Free users are assigned theViewerrole. Being assigned any other role requires that a free user upgrade to Pro or PPU."
What does it mean of having Viewer Role? Are free account able to view dashboard even if the workspace owner is just using pro license?
Hey! sure. There are 4 roles at a workspace:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-roles-new-workspaces
When your workspace is for example Premium, one of those roles, the "viewer", can be used by "PowerBi Free" license. The users can get in the workspace and read/view reports. However if you try changing a free user to a role Contributor, Member or Admin, an error will show up asking the user to upgrade their license to Pro or PPU, because the other roles with build access are specific for Pro or PPU.
I hope that helps,
