Export underlining data from matrix not working

I have a report with a Matrix table where when I export the underlying data from it to excel it doesn't exports any data.  It creates and export file but the data table in it is blank.  I only get this issue in powerbi service though.  If I download the report to PBIX and export underlying data from PBIX it works.  

 

 

Some context for this report:

 

  • It is a Duel storage composit model that direct queries another powerbi dataset
  • I am admin in workspace where it is housed
  • The setting to allow users to export underlying data is turned on
  • It is a matrix table table that uses the field parameter feature for both fields and measures

Please let me know if there is anything I have not thought of to try, or if there is a limitation I am unaware of.

    Hi, did you manage to solve this? I am having the same issue. I am the model & report owner and natuarally I have access to all data. I can export the summerized data but not the underlying data from PowerBI Server. Any help is appreciated!!!

      Have not resolved or heard anything from MS yet.  There was one post that mentioned if you originally publish the report to service without enabling setting to allow downloading underlying data, even if you switch the setting and republish, it won't work and you have to recreate the report. 

      I tested this out by creating a new test report and made sure setting was enabled from beginning.  Still no luck and running into same issue.
