Hi Guys,
is it possible to work with placeholders for refreshing excel files?
Example: I have an order report excel file that is automatically created each night while the old file gets deleted. I can't access the database so I have to use this file. This file however always comes with a timestamp, meaning it could look like this:
Day 1: Order_Report_20210303.csv
Day 2: Order_Report_20210304.csv
When I create a Gateway for the refresh and have to provide the full path to the file is it possible to work with a placeholder?
E.g. Data/Shop/out/Order_Report_* or does the filename always have to be exact?
If it's possible what can be used as a placeholder, would it be the "*"?
Thanks for your help,
Sascha
Hi, @Anonymous
After researching, I'm afraid that it is impossible to work with placeholders for refreshing excel files.
No matter whether you use the file connector or the folder connector, it needs complete and accurate path url and file name to confirm the location of the file to be refreshed.

Don't use a file connector, use a folder connector. That allows you the flexibility to handle file changes in Power Query.
