Hi,
we have a problem while loading data to the simple report in PowerBI web app.
The Excel file is stored on Sharepoint, all permissions are granted and checked. The same file can be uploaded to the workspace, however there is a credential error while creating report.

Hi @Hateam ,
The error you're seeing indicates that while Power BI recognizes the Excel file on SharePoint, it cannot authenticate to access it when trying to load or refresh the data in the Power BI web app.
Even if permissions are set correctly on SharePoint, the Power BI Service needs its own credentials configured to connect to the SharePoint data source.
To fix this, go to your Power BI workspace, find the related dataset, click on the "Settings" (gear icon), and then go to "Data source credentials". There, you'll likely see a prompt saying credentials are missing or invalid. Click Edit Credentials, choose OAuth2 as the authentication method, and sign in using the same Microsoft account that has access to the SharePoint file.
Additionally, ensure that your SharePoint link follows the proper format—ideally, using the SharePoint folder connector or a clean web URL ending in .xlsx without unnecessary query strings. Once the credentials are set correctly, the connection should authenticate properly and allow the data to load into the report without further errors.

You are using an inferior connector. Switch over to the SharePoint Folder connector, that will also fix your credentials issue.
