Error creating connection in powerBI service, can connect to postgreSQL on powerbi desktop

Does anyone know how to solve this error when creating a new connection? I have configured a data gateway and I can connect to the PostgreSQL database using powerbi desktop, but can't connect using powerbi service

Unable to create a connection for the following reason: Unable to connect to the data source. Either the data source is inaccessible, a connection timeout occurred, or the data source credentials are invalid. Please verify the data source configuration and contact a data source administrator to troubleshoot this issue

Details: gatewaykdhcs: Please install Npgsql version 4.0.10.0 or earlier.

I can get real-time data from my PostgreSQL database on powerBI desktop however, when I publish my report to powerbi service, I get this error and no data is displayed

thus, I tried to download a the data gateway and create a new connection using the new data gateway that was set up

however, I am running into this error. Could this be a problem with my gateway setup? I downloaded the gateway and signed in and it shows on on-premises gateway section.

1st step when installing the gateway is to validate whether your source is accessible from within the server.

So login to the server on which you plan to install the gateway and check whether the database is accessible from within the server ( as there might be port of firewall blockages as well).

and you can ignore the folder aspect that you have stated 2nd time.

The issue seems to be more of network aspect.

Solved the problem! I needed to connect to an ODBC datasource instead of PostgreSQL data source, thank you so much!!

Can you confirm whether the database is accessible from server on which the On Prem data gateway is installed?

You can login within that server to try to access that database from SSMS/powerBI.

Note: Basically when you are developing report from powerbi desktop, there is no gateway needed. The database is being accessed from the server on which the PBI desktop is installed
