Error Refreshing Dataflow Gen1

I've created simple dataflow Gen1,  and keep coming with this error when i am trying to  refresh it "Error: PipelineException: Container exited unexpectedly with code 0x0000DEAD. PID: 19848.. RootActivityId = e2170ea7-1198-4c7b-8568-7dcfcdb2311c.Param1 = PipelineException: Container exited unexpectedly with code 0x0000DEAD. PID: 19848. Request ID: 1bf18682-5955-2994-d311-cc6bd7bbcd07".

I have no idea how to fix this error, could you please help me with this?

Hi @Hind , The error you are encountering is internal issue with Power BI Dataflows (Gen1) Please do try these steps

  • Check Queries: Ensure all queries are valid and error-free.
  • Validate Source Data: Check for nulls or incorrect data formats in the source.
  • Simplify Dataflow: Refresh smaller parts of the dataflow to isolate the issue.
  • Verify Gateway: Ensure the on-premises data gateway is up-to-date and configured.
  • Retry: Clear the failed refresh history and try again.
  • Consider Gen2: Migrate to Dataflows Gen2 for better reliability.
If this post helped you please do give a kudos and accept this as a solution
    Thanks In Advance

Hi @Hind

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Thank you for your response @Akash_Varuna .

Please consider the following additional recommendations that may help address the issue more effectively:

The error in the screenshot indicates an UnsupportedOperationForClientException, which is related to compatibility issues between the Dataflow Gen2 and the Power BI Desktop or Service client version.

This can occur if your Power BI Desktop version or the Power BI Service environment is not fully updated to support Dataflows Gen2.

1. Validate Power BI Service Compatibility

  • If you’re using Power BI Service, check the regional availability of Dataflows Gen2.
  • Make sure your Power BI Service workspace is set to a capacity that supports Dataflows Gen2 (e.g., Premium Per User or Premium capacity).

2. Verify Dataflow Gen2 Configuration

  • Ensure that the Dataflow Gen2 is configured properly and does not contain unsupported operations or transformations.
  • Check the entity permissions in Dataflow Gen2. Ensure the entity is set to enable load and configured for proper access.
  • Reconnect to the Dataflow in Power BI Desktop via Get Data → Dataflows

If my response has resolved your query, please mark it as the Accepted Solution to help others. Additionally, I would appreciate a 'Kudos' if you found my response helpful.

Thank you!

@Hind ,Please try updating the power bi desktop version may be the version is not compatible and also please check the service also and how the dataflow has been setup in the workspace these might be the issue that is causing that error
