Hi:
Am having the recurrent issue that does not allow me to have my scheduled refresh completed:
I receive a daily (100-150 rows) .xls file in a MS Azure Blob Storage.
From there, I append this daily new file to older, similar files (~ 50) in PowerBI (using Combine+Invoke) and then run some modifications on the consolidated table.
This transformation works perfectly in PowerBI Desktop. It publishes fine, but when I scheduled the refresh, and it starts running the automated refresh, I am get an email with this error:
FILE NAME has failed to refresh. Failure details: The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error. This is usually a transient issue. If you try again later and still see this message, contact support.
Excel Workbook: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine 2010 Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987.. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface. Table: FACT - REVS.
Could anyone help me with this issue?
Thanks
PS: Am on 64-bit Windows10 and PowerBI
hi @JMSNYC - I would agree with @lbendlin with regard to the issue being due to support of .xls file.
But can you also go into the data source setting and confirm the credentials are saved as expected. Sometimes this throws up some errors during scheduled refresh. Thanks!

Hi.
Thank you for your suggestion.
Tried that, but still does not work.
Thanks, though
can you install the enterprise gateway and add the data source under "manage gateway"? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-data-sources
Doesn't really matter what your PC is running - this is an error coming from the Azure service. They don't seem to support your old .xls files. Migrate to .xlsx format.
Thank you, but vendor does not want to change format only for us 😞 ... already tried that !
In addition, I don't think that it comes from Azure, because PowerBI Desktop processes .xls file fromm Azure properly.
But thank you again for taking the time to respond.
I am getting the same error (late to this conversation - so let me know if there was a solution). All my files are either xlsx or accdb (MS Access). Everything works fine in PBI Desktop 64bit but always fails to do the scheduled update in PBI service. I need to house the split back end of the DB locally (I think) because I have several users who need access to it. I am not a DB expert, nor an MS Access expert, but I have been able to efficiently split the DB to frontend and backend and make the front end into an accde file for security purposes (as well as password protecting it).
Even my manual refreshes do not work and I always get that annoying message shown above, until recently when I starting getting an error that my database was locked 😞 !
Any ideas?
