Dear all,
I am tyring to establish Dynamic RLS, but when trying to verify my attempt at app.powerbi.com I get following message:
What does it mean? Both types, report and semantic model, are there...
Can please anybody help me and tell me, what I need to do? I am lost...
Hi @Orstenpowers ,
Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1.Verify Workspace Location: Ensure that both the report you're trying to test and the semantic model are saved in the same Power BI workspace. This is a fundamental requirement for the "Test as role" feature.
2.Check Report Connection: Make sure that the report you've created is indeed using the semantic model you've applied the Dynamic RLS to.
3.Test in Power BI Desktop: Before attempting to test in the Power BI service, use the "View As" feature in Power BI Desktop to verify that your RLS setup works as expected.

Dear Neeko,
Thank you very much for your help!
Reg. workspace location; as you can see from the below screenshot, both report and semantic model are saved in "my workspace"
Reg. Test in PBI Desktop: This also worked fine.
Reg. Report Connection: Where can I check whether or not the report is using the semantic model??? I have no idea...
Looking forward to hearing from you I remain
Best regards
OrstenPowers
Hi @Orstenpowers ,
Based on your error message, you could try connecting the original semantic model using Power BI Desktop then simply creating a new report and applying RLS, then publishing to the same workspace and testing again.

Dear @Anonymous Neeko, Thanks for your proposal! However, without doing any changes, I could test the role for Dynamic RLS successfully this morning, which is great and I also can see that the Dynmic RLS concept works fine...
However, when looking into it more precisely, I recognized that a number of visuals was not displayed as expected.
For the concerned visuals, I got following message:
"Die Daten für diese Visualisierung wurden nicht gefunden.
Es wird erwartet, dass Verknüpfungspfade eine Struktur bilden, aber die Tabelle "SALES_DATA" umfasst zwei Verknüpfungspfade zur Tabelle "AD_Germany": "'SALES_DATA'->'Sales Header'->'AD_Germany'" und "'SALES_DATA'->'ST_PRODUCT_GROUP'->'Budget_Sales_GER_nach_AT'->'AD_Germany'"
From the message above I understand that I need to get rid of one of these relation paths, but after several successless tries, I hope that this community can help me!?
When looking into my relations, it looks as follows.
SALES_DATA(Order No) --> Sales Header(Order No)
Sales Header(Sales Rep (Order)) <--> AD_Germany(Sales Rep(Order))
SALES_DATA(Sales Statistics Group) <-- ST_PRODUCT_GROUP(Sales Statistics Group)
ST_PRODUCT_GROUP(PG_TOTAL) <--> Budget_Sales-GER(PG_TOTAL)
Budget_Sales_GER(Sales Rep(Order)) <-- AD_Germany(Sales Rep(Order))
What do I need to do in order to get the model started correctly? Looking forward to your proposals I remain
Hi @Anonymous ,
do you (or anybody else) have any idea what I need to change with the existing relations so that the model will work properly?
I was so happy that the dynamic RLS works and now I am stopped by these unexpected problems...😞
