Hi all,
I have a couple of questions that I can't find answers for.
We will be using the direct query to create a NRT report/dashboard. I know when we run the query in this mode the resulting data stays on the on prem system, but, some data must go to the service for the visuals to work. Is there a way to estimate this?
We have a concern our users will simply keep clicking refresh, all have a pro license, what are the options for restricting the manual refresh?
Thanks,
Hi @MattN4
To let data on premise in direct query mode work in service, you need a on-premises gateway installed on the same server with data source and then register the data source to establish a data connection.
Steps as follows, more reference here: install gateway, manage gateway
To restrict manual refresh for users, just don’t add these users to a gateway administrator list.
Only people including in this list can connect to data source via the gateway, thus are able to carry out refreshing.
Best Regards
Maggie
Hi, Thanks for the reply. I'm not in the user list for the gateway, but I can still refresh the data.
There does not appear to be a way to stop users from manually refreshing the data.
