Deployment Failure for a semantic model: Language mismatch between source and target not supported

I have a simple deployment pipeline between three workspaces ("development", "UAT", and "production"). 

We have deployed the semantic model between these 3 environments many times successfully but now the deployment fails with this error:

Backend Error Language mismatch between source and target models is not supported

We don't see any problems here because we haven't changed any language settings for a long time ago. Before a couple of months we have changed the Q&A language from french to english but then deployed many times successfully.

The error message seems not to be documented in the Microsoft documentation nor in any other location. What can be the problem and how can it be solved?
