Date format when published from Desktop to Service

This is similar to other posts, but I haven't found one that answer the question.

In Power BI Desktop I have the following (desired) date format:

Barrettone_1-1661156702679.png

However, when I publish to Chrome it has the following (undesired) format:

Barrettone_0-1661156654838.png

I have followed a few of the suggestions of how to fix date format, but most are to do with US/Rest of the world date format, which isn't really the problem.

I've changed Chrome's default language to English from US, that's the only change I have made.

I also see the incorrect date format in Edge.

Other people are seeing the same problem.

Hey @Anonymous ,

This person went through all of these steps to get it resolved:

Solved: Date displayed in american format - Microsoft Power BI Community

This thread suggests hardcoding some dates and/or using steps similar to the first thread:

Manage Date Formats in the Power BI Service (mssqltips.com)

Do either of these help?

Thanks for the help, however neither of these solutions tackles the problem - they describe what I have already done, namely updating the default language setting in multiple browsers to address UK/US date format.

I'm more looking to address the short/long format - 01 August 2022/Monday, August 01, 2022

Hey @Anonymous ,

I really don't have a better answer.  I am wondering if this is a bug that you have encountered?  It might be worth opening a Microsoft ticket since this is happening on the browser/service and we can't really control that.  Maybe they know a trick that we don't?

Hi @Anonymous ,

When you mention that you have modified some things - are you talking about in the service or in your browser?  It is possible that your browser has a default display setting in it based on locale settings.  Is it showing the same date format in different browsers?  How about for different people in different regions?
