Datamart SQL Endpoint Certificate Error

Connecting to the sql endpoint  at *.datamart.pbidedicated.windows.net recently has started failing to refresh with the following error.

One or more errors occurred.;One or more errors occurred.

The server name provided doesn't match the server name on the SQL Server SSL certificate. Please see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=394782. (Source at [Database_id].datamart.pbidedicated.windows.net;db_powerbiprodgbr_[Timestamp].). The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface

I managed to get the query working by changing to *.datamart.fabric.microsoft.com but shouldn't Micrsoft update the documention if the other endpoint is no longer supported ?

Hi @PB_PRO

The error occurs because the old SQL endpoint (*.datamart.pbidedicated.windows.net) is no longer valid and doesn’t match the SSL certificate. Switching to the new endpoint (*.datamart.fabric.microsoft.com) resolves the issue.

Key points:

  • The older endpoint is likely deprecated.
  • Microsoft should update their documentation to reflect the new endpoint.
  • Use the new endpoint (*.datamart.fabric.microsoft.com) to avoid the issue.

Whoa! I have the same issue. Why would they allow the redirect previous and then force the URL all of sudden. I wonder if it is a temporary SSL certificate glitch or whether we need to change all semantic models that pull from datamarts all of a sudden.
