Dataflow tables not available

I have created a dataflow by importing the existing json file. I opened the dataflow and was able to save and close without any issue and was able to refresh the dataflow successfully.

When I tried to access the dataflow from my Power BI Desktop I could only see 7 tables out of the 8 tables in the dataflow. I have not disabled load for any of the tables and yet I dont see that one table.

Has anyone else faced this issue?

Hi all ,

@aj1973 , thanks for your concern about this case, I have some additions for problem solving.

@aj1973 , thank you for giving a specific description of the problem. Based on the information you show, I will give you the following steps to solve the problem.

1.Check for Refresh Issues. Sometimes, even though a dataflow refreshes successfully, individual tables might encounter issues. Please review the refresh history of your dataflow in the Power BI service to ensure there were no warnings or errors for the missing table. For details, please refer to Monitor your dataflow refreshes with Power BI - Power Query | Microsoft Learn.

2.Check if you have the necessary permissions to view all the tables within the dataflow. If the dataflow is stored in an Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 account, you need to have explicit authorization to access the dataflow's CDM folder. For details, please refer to Configure and consume a dataflow - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

3.Check if you have used Dataflow Gen2. If you are using Dataflow Gen2, and the table was manually deleted from the data destination but expected to be recreated upon refresh, there might be a configuration issue. Ensure that the table is set to be recreated if not found during the dataflow refresh. For details, please refer to Dataflow Gen2 data destinations and managed settings - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

You can learn more about dataflow by referring to Dataflows Limitations, restrictions and supported connectors and features - Power BI | Microsoft Lea....

If you still have trouble in it, you may need to answer some questions. Are there any specific error messages or warnings in the dataflow refresh history related to the missing table? Did you make any changes to the dataflow or the specific table before noticing it was missing in Power BI Desktop? What version of Power BI Desktop are you using? These details can help us narrow down the cause of the issue and provide more targeted assistance.

Best Regards,

Caroline Mei

Hi @aj1973 & @v-yanimei-msft , Thank you for your responses.

I can confirm that there were no refresh failures in the Dataflow.

The Dataflow is set to source the data from an Azure SQL Database and there is no issue with the permission.

I opened the power query of the Dataflow on the service and let the Evaluation complete for that missing table and then saved the dataflow. Then I refreshed the same and now I can see that table when I connect  from Power BI desktop. I no longer have the issue.

However , in the past, when I had created the dataflow using an existing json file, I never had to open the Power query of the Dataflow and complete the evaluation of each and every table and then click on save.

Would you happen to have any insight on this behavior?

No insight on my end, but I would recommend to save a new json file for the newly refreshed Dataflow.

Hi @CRV

Are you sure when you first exported the dataflow in a json file all 8 tables were there and refreshed before then!?
