Dataflow Gen2 Redirects to Power Query Instead of Entity List View

Hi, I'm a Pro user working in a Premium capacity workspace. I’ve encountered a persistent issue with Dataflow Gen2.

Every time I publish a dataflow, instead of opening the entity list view, it redirects me back to the Power Query editor. This happens regardless of how many times I publish or how many times I recreate the dataflow.

All staging and destination settings are properly configured. Despite this, I cannot see the list of entities/tables, and therefore I’m unable to access AutoML or perform any operations that depend on the entity view.

Please help. Is this behaving normally, or any setting I need to perform to enable the AutoML?

Hi @cohrfiqaa

This behaviour with Dataflow Gen2 isn’t normal, and I can see how frustrating it is especially if you’re trying to use features like AutoML that depend on the entity list view.

Since you’re already in a Premium capacity workspace with the right staging and destination settings, it’s worth first checking if it’s a UI cache issue:

  • Clear your browser cache or try in an incognito/private window.
  • Make sure the dataflow has been saved successfully and contains at least one valid entity with output enabled.

If the issue still persists, it’s likely a bug or backend problem. In that case, open a support ticket with Microsoft via the Power Platform Admin Centre so they can check the backend logs. There’s no user-side setting for this AutoML should appear automatically once entities are published in a supported workspace.

Hi  @cohrfiqaa,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

Please review these considerations and limitations of AutoML with Power BI and see if any of the points mentioned could be causing your issue:

Dataflows Gen2 does not currently integrate with automated machine learning.

AI insights (Cognitive Services and Azure Machine Learning models) aren't supported on machines with proxy authentication setup.

Azure Machine Learning models aren't supported for Guest users.

There are some known issues with using Gateway with AutoML and Cognitive Services. If you need to use a gateway, we recommend creating a dataflow that imports the necessary data via gateway first. Then create another dataflow that references the first dataflow to create or apply these models and AI functions.

If your AI work with dataflows fails, you may need to enable Fast Combine when using AI with dataflows. Once you have imported your table and before you begin to add AI features, select Options from the Home ribbon, and in the window that appears select the checkbox beside Allow combining data from multiple sources to enable the feature, then select OK to save your selection. Then you can add AI features to your dataflow.
