I want to understand how much data gets stored in PowerBI , when a user acts on reports (applying filters etc..), dashboard or refreshes a dataset.
Consider a report is based on tabular model, and another report based on datasource (which does nto support direct query)
@sitandon You can find all the information you need in the security white paper. It breaks down how things are stored and how direct query is different. You can find the download link here
In a nutshell, Tabular model and Direct Query don't store the data in the cloud - they use DAX to pull the relevant info and only cache what is needed temporarily. The other datasets have all the information pulled up into Azure and stored for use.
If you have recently started exploring Fabric, we'd love to hear how it's going. Your feedback can help with product improvements.
A new Power BI DataViz World Championship is coming this June! Don't miss out on submitting your entry.
Experience the highlights from FabCon & SQLCon, available live and on-demand starting April 14th.
