Data gateway - use SQL Server Alias

We have defined a defined a non-personal data gateway since ages which works well.

Recently we have defined Aliases within our DNS for existing servers which operate SQL Server databases.

When connecting with excel or powerbi desktop to these servers using the alias it works fine.

When using the alias in the data gateway it does not work well, the gateway does not allow to use the Alias.

Does somebody know the cause, how to solve this?

Hi Gilbert, i logged in into that server (actually the gateway server itself has the alias name) and the ping t the alias server works out fine from the dos command prompt.

Can you make sure that your gateway server can resolve the alias to the IP address and successfully connect to the SQL Server?

You can log into the gateway server and try and connect from there?
