Dashboard timeout in front end

How long does a dashboard stay on standby without disconnecting the database?
Without automatically refreshing the page.

I have a scenario where the end user leaves the dashboard open for more than 1 hour.
When returning to use the panel, it is no longer connected to the database. So, the page is automatically updated.

Is it possible to increase the waiting time?

By default, Power BI reports and dashboards do not have a specific timeout period or maximum duration that they can remain idle before disconnecting from the data source. However, some data sources may have their own timeout settings that affect how long a connection can remain idle before being terminated.

If you are experiencing issues with your dashboard disconnecting from the data source after a period of inactivity, there are a few things you can try:

  1. Check your data source settings: If your data source has a timeout setting, you may be able to adjust it to allow for longer periods of inactivity. Check the documentation or contact the provider of your data source for more information.

  2. Adjust your Power BI settings: There is a Power BI setting called "Data load timeout" that controls how long Power BI will wait for data to load before timing out. You can adjust this setting by going to the "File" menu in the Power BI Desktop application, selecting "Options and settings", and then selecting "Options". In the "Preview features" section, you will find the "Data load timeout" setting.

  3. Consider using a data gateway: If you are using a data source that is located on-premises or behind a firewall, you may need to use a data gateway to establish a secure connection between Power BI and your data source. The data gateway has its own timeout settings that you can adjust to allow for longer periods of inactivity.

Keep in mind that increasing the timeout period for your data source or Power BI may have implications for the security and performance of your system, so be sure to weigh the benefits and risks before making any changes.
