The below DMV queries must be run on which query window in SSMS ?
mdx, dax or xmla
SELECT * FROM SYSTEMRESTRICTSCHEMA
($System.DISCOVER_STORAGE_TABLE_COLUMNS,
[DATABASE_NAME] = '<Dataset Name>') //Sum DICTIONARY_SIZE (bytes)
SELECT * FROM SYSTEMRESTRICTSCHEMA
($System.DISCOVER_STORAGE_TABLE_COLUMN_SEGMENTS,
[DATABASE_NAME] = '<Dataset Name>') //Sum USED_SIZE (bytes)
Tried running on dax and got the below error message :
Obtained object of type: Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdDataReader
A DISCOVER operation is only supported for a tabular model database for which you have administrative permissions. Either the current database is not tabular, or you do not have administrative permissions.
SSMS VERSION:
SQL Server Management Studio 15.0.18424.0
Hi @Anonymous ,
According to MS documentation, it should be MDX:
Dynamic Management Views (DMVs) in Analysis Services | Microsoft Learn
Can you try?
By the way, you can also query DMVs in Power BI. Here a blog post about this topic:

Let me know if this helps 🙂
