DMTS_DatasourceHasNoCredentialError Error in powerbiService.

I have created a powerbi pagenated report in reportbuilder. The data source is Psql Flexi server on Azure Cloud. I did installed ODBC drivers on my machine, configured it and build the report.
The report works fine in the reportbuilder. But when i publish the report in powerbi service. I am getting this error

"Unable to render paginated report

There was an error contacting an underlying data source. Manage your credentials or gateway settings on the management page. Please verify that the data source is available, your credentials are correct and that your gateway settings are valid."

Since my data source is not on premise i dont have to install a gateway. The problem lies with Managing credentials.
In the Manage page connection and gateway settings of the workspace i see that
the status of my conncetion is offline

Hi @Anonymous
Below are steps that resolve this issue:

  1. Remove the Gateway:

    • In Power BI Service, navigate to your workspace and then to Data Source Settings.
    • If the gateway is selected and the option to remove it is greyed out, try to reconfigure the data source without selecting the gateway.
    • On the data source credentials page, click edit credentials and select none. This will bypass the need for a gateway.
  2. Fixing the Credentials Issue:

    • Make sure you're using basic authentication or the appropriate method for PostgreSQL.
    • Enter the PostgreSQL credentials (username, password) along with SSL connection settings (if needed).
    • If the option to save credentials is disabled, it could be because Power BI is still trying to use the gateway. By switching to None (Cloud data source) in the credentials configuration, you should be able to save the credentials properly.
  3. Check the Status:

    • After saving the credentials, ensure the connection status changes to Online.
    • If the status still shows as Offline, try refreshing the page, or check if there are any lingering configuration issues.

hi @Anonymous ,

Steps to Resolve:

  1. Switch to Cloud Data Source:

    • Since your PostgreSQL is on Azure Cloud, you do not need a gateway. Remove the "Personal mode" gateway in the settings.
  2. Set Up Data Source Credentials:

    • Go to Data Source Credentials in Power BI Service.
    • Edit credentials and select Basic Authentication or the required method.
    • Provide your PostgreSQL username, password, and ensure SSL settings are correct.
  3. Verify Status:

    • After saving credentials, ensure the status changes to Online.
  4. Test the Report:

    • Run the paginated report in Power BI Service to confirm it renders successfully.

Hi @rohit1991, Thanks for replying.
The option of changing the gateway is greyed out

Is there any different way to remove a gateway. The gateway was already selected by powerbi service.
Also i am unable to save after adding credentials in the Authentication section. Is that becuase of the gateway?
