Creating a Connection using OLE DB

Greetings.

I'm trying to set up a connection using OLE DB.

I am able to connect from Power BI Desktop.

I'm using this connection string. provider=SQLNCLI11.1;initial catalog=Viewpoint;data source=servername

(Servername is substituted for the server name.)

I'm getting this message:

Unable to create connection for the following reason: Unable to connect to the data source. Either the data source is inaccessible, a connection timeout occurred, or the data source credentials are invalid. Please verify the data source configuration and contact a data source administrator to troubleshoot this issue.

We do have an enterprise gateway installed.

Please confirm that the gateway VMs can see the database - for example via SSMS.

Assuming that is an on-premise data source this means that you need to have an (enterprise) gateway as well if you want this to refresh in the service.
