I know the opposite question was posed here a while back (with no as the answer):
We have a report that was created with a live connection to Azure Analysis Service, but we want to share it with folks who do not have direct access to that data cube, which won't work with a live connection obviously.
The option to make changes to the data model prompts to change it to a Direct Query, but it's the same scenario: In the data view, clicking on a table and going to advanced properties, storage mode shows "Direct Query" but it is greyed out.
Is there any way to convert the Live Connection model (or Direct Query) to an import or do we just start over and rebuilt the same report?
Thanks!

Hi @tbakrf ,
Switching from live connection to import mode is not currently supported.
To switch from direct query mode to import mode, select "Model View" in the left pane of Power bi desktop, use the "DirectQuery" storage mode to select the appropriate table, go to "Properties" and change the storage mode.
Please be aware of these restrictions:
Use storage mode in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
DirectQuery in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
