Connectivity Problem

HI Team,

I have a setup where I have developed a AAS(Azure analysis Service) model developed and published in PowerBI service for our customers to consume it as PowerBi dataset.

My assumption was when I once pusblish a dataset to PowerBI service, My customers will connect to it from their PowerBI desktop if they have access to workspace(and service ofcourse).

The Problem I am seeing is when my customer tries connecting to Power Bi dataset, It asks them to connect to AAS.(My Expection was, it will ask to connect to Powerbi service where dataset is hosted).

Can you please help me understand why is this happening?

Hi @prpranay

Due to the design and using AAS it will always have to connect to the AAS.

Hi @prpranay

The AAS is hosted outside of the Power BI Service. It is hosted in Azure Analysis Services with is a totally different part of the Power BI Service.

You will have to get them to connect to the AAS to connect to the dataset.

You mean AAS based Dataset is not hosted in PowerBi service even if I have published it there. If I was not clear, let me restate my problem again.. My Dataset is built in AAS(cube) and published in PowerBi Service already. And My Customers are trying to connect to that published dataset from PowerBi Desktop( Connection should be from Powerbi Desktop --> PowerBi Service) but they are being redirected to AAS where dataset was developed initially.
