Hi,
I'm unable to connect to my fabric SQL endpoint from SQL Server Management Studio.
This is supposed to be possible right?
Error message below.
Anyone know what I need to get this working?
Thanks
That doesn't explain it but agree it's odd that INSERT is mentioned in the error text.
The error happens during initial attempt to establish a connection to the SQL endpoint (shown below)
What's your version of SSMS? Can you try updating to the latest version and try again?
Hi , @josi4
Are you able to connect successfully now? According to your error message "INSERT is not a supported statement type", it means that the SQL endpoint does not support the insert statement.
Creating, altering, and dropping tables, and insert, update, and delete are only supported in Warehouse in Microsoft Fabric, not in the SQL Endpoint of the Lakehouse.
And i test it in my side , i can connect it without any error code .
Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!

Hello!
From the error message it appears you are executing an INSERT command in a lakehouse, which is not supported. Lakehouse SQL Endpoint only allows SELECT queries. To modify data you need to create flows using dataflows and pipelines or use commands directly in Spark notebooks.
