Connecting to Oracle database performance issues

Hi,

I need to create a sales performance dashboard for one of my customers who uses Oracle as the transaction database. Normally, there are about 50 million sales transactions that I need to analyze.

Option 1:

I am planning to use an Oracle database connection with import mode to create my dataset. When the report is published, I will be using an on-prem data gateway with scheduled refresh.

I wanted to know whether this is a recommended approach in this case.

Other possible options I have considered are:

Option 2: Creating a SQL Server data warehouse and using SSIS to load and refresh data from Oracle to SSIS. Then, create a Power BI dataset connecting to the SQL Server tables.

Option 3: Further extending Option 2 by creating SSAS Tabular Models connecting to the SQL Server data warehouse. Then, create Power BI reports connecting to the Tabular Models.

Options 2 and 3 are costly implementations with extended effort. However, my concern with Option 1 is that I might encounter performance issues when the data volume and the complexity of the data model increase.

Could you please provide me with your opinion on this?

Thank you.

Option 1 seems to be best option for your purpose
