I have an Azure Analysis Services tabular model with a gateway connected that Power BI Service can see - we are currently using the PBI Pro Trial version which may have some limitiations. But when I go to add the data source in Power BI side of the Gateway and use the options for Analysis Services none of the credentials I use will work - tpyically the credential is admin@compny.onmicrosoft.com which is the same credential that adminsiters the gateway, azure etc so I would think it should allow the datasource connection.
Does the gateway for the Azure Analysis Service NOT need the data source added as the gateway is also linked on the Azure portal and that provides the connection.
Whilst I have created a report in the desktop, published it to the service and shared it with other users I had to add the other users into the Azure Analysis Services Moddel as Admins to enable them to see the data in the report, I was expecting the gateway to enable users access to the Tabular Model data.
Consequently I was expecting the other users to be able to connect to the AAS Tabular model in the web service via the gateway so they could create their own reports or at the very least access the model via the gateway or even use the report I created as a Dataset but this does not seem to be the case as they cannot see it as a dataset or edit the report I shared with them. I am hopeful that anyone who wants to create a report does not have to use the desktop and then publish that to enable sharing of information with others, eg the organisation does not want to rollout the desktop to all the users.
Any help appreciated.

I have tested a few options and it looks like the use of a workspace shared between users will do most of what we need. The users in the workspace can see the report and the dataset and create new reports from the data set successfully. I think the addition of users to Roles in the AS Database via SSMS will negate the necessity to have users as Admins in the model.
Much relieved. Thanks
