What is the impact when one opts to use a combination of DirectQuery and Import (SQL Server Data Source)? How does Power BI handle such a combination?

Great links - thank you! My main takeaway was this one, which was causing the behaviour I was noticing. When using a composite model, a sluggish performance may result on the Service side.

"Using composite models adds additional performance considerations. A single visual can result in sending queries to multiple sources, which often pass the results from one query across to a second source."
