Changing parameter data type

I am trying to change the data type of a parameter field from text to decimal and am receiving this error

'Cannot convert value ''Sheet1'[Unemployment Rate (%) (2024)]' of type Text to type Number while processing column'

even though the individual fields in the parameter already have a decimal number data type.

Because of this the parameter is not working to change the colour saturation of a shape map even though the shape map colour saturation works when using an indiviual column not through the parameter.

Any help would be appreciated!

You used the wrong parameter type. You need to use measures, not columns.

Remove the parameter. Change all your desired columns to the right type. Recreate the parameter.

Thanks for your respone, I've tried this and it didn't word, all of the columns are decimal numbers but won't work with the map when used in a parameter.

Please provide sample data that covers your issue or question completely, in a usable format (not as a screenshot).

Do not include sensitive information. Do not include anything that is unrelated to the issue or question.

Here is the link to a smaller version of the data set I'm working with and what I'm trying to do in power BI. As you can see it works for one column but not through the parameter.
