Changing Data source from MS SQL to Power Bi Dataset without recreating Report

Hi

We were using on-prem PBI Server and we are migrating to PBI service. We have mulitiple records connecting to MS SQL Server dataset ( MSSQLDS). As we are migrating to PBI service , we want to utilize the shared PBI dataset ( PBIDS )  , as there are lot of reports uses this dataset. The columns are identical between PBIDS and MSSQLDS. Tried adding PBIDS and renaming it to match it to MSSQLDS. Still , the reports does not work . it is looking for MSSQLDS. How do I change the datasource from MS SQL to PBIDS , without recreating reports from scratch?

Thanks in Advance.

Hello @zahirmohideen ,

You could connect the SQLDB with on-premesis gateway https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-gateway-onprem

Thank you for your response. Lot of reports are using the same data source. I can use MS SQL Server with no changes to the report. However , that will not be optimal.  I want to use Shared PBI dataset
