what is the data source, and is the data source up and running?

Does the data source support Service Principal authentication.

Not sure what a "Service Principal connector is?"

I was able to check the Azure SQL logs when creating the connection and verified that the service principal is connecting to the database server. 

I have "data connectors" as shown in the image. These use Service Principal Authentication method. This is all working as expected.  

Is there an API to make the report use this Service Principal data connector?
