Can i use a workspace like a Drive to upload csv to be consumed by pbix?

Excuse my ignorance, but  can I use PowerBI as sort of a OneDrive and place a CSV file here (see below)    to be consumed??

I realize I am consuming from a csv that I update weekly on my laptop; it would greatly simplify things if I could just upload it there. (it could refresh without my laptop being on!)

Hi @Anonymous , as the button suggest, it only works for uploading .pbix or .rld files. If you want to create a report, that conusmes the .csv, then you need to create a new report (online or on your desktop) and use the .csv file as a soruce (.csv locatd on onedrive/sharepoint).

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

Thank you for your inputs @zenisekd. As he already mentioned, Power BI cannot be used as a file storage location like OneDrive. The Import option in your screenshot is for importing Power BI files (.pbix) or report files (.rdl)—not CSVs for direct consumption.

The best way to store and use a CSV file is by uploading it to OneLake via a Lakehouse or Data Warehouse.

If you need any further assistance, Please feel free to reach out.

If this post helps, then please give us Kudos and consider Accept it as a solution to help the other members find it more quickly.

Thank you.
