Can i access a cloud data source via an on-premises data gateway ?

Can i access a cloud data source via an on-premises data gateway ?

We want to connect from the power bi cloud to an instance of amazon redshift in the cloud. However, the redshift instance only accepts connections from a fixed ip address - which the power bi cloud service does not have.

We were wondering:

Would it be possible to route Power Bi traffic via an on-premises data gateway. This would then call out to Redshift from our network.

Yes you can, but as AWS Redshift is not available in connections of Gateway use below alternative.

Create ODBC connection on Power BI Gateway Server by following Connecting Power BI to Amazon Redshift via ODBC Driver (devart.com)

Then use ODBC as connection in your reports and in Gateway.

Hi,

Have you followed arvindsingh802’s suggestion to create an ODBC connection on Power BI Gateway Server? Because I think it’s a possible solution.

If so, would you like to mark your own reply as a solution so that others can learn from it too?

Thanks in advance!

The reply that we have had from MS Support implies that the ggateway will support redshfit as a source. I have not seen this myself. Either way going thruogh a gateway seems te way to go.
