Can SSRS be used for Report Builder paginated reports?

As the title says is this possible, doable.  Wanting more functionality than RB can give me and wondering if this is possible.

Unfortunately where I am currently working at will not give me full rights to my machine nor even posit the thought of allowing an install of SSRS on my machine so I can test this and/or use SSRS for another means of debugging RB reports.

Thoughts?

Hi,

 Need more clarity on your question. I understood that you have some Report builder paginated reports (Power BI Cloud) and you want to use SSRS to debugg. If this is the case then i would say Yes. As both support .RDL extension you can use SSRS or the latest Power BI Report Server Report Builder (on-prem) to debug. In case, if you use Power BI Datasets as a source then you need to change that into Azure Analysis Serivices or SQL Server Analysis Services connector and pass your XMLA endpoint of your Power BI Dataset with credentails.

While I appreciate Hari's response I was hoping for definite proof that SSRS could be used with Report Builder reports to enhance the report creation and programming experience.  I do understand that both types of files have the file extension of .rdl  We also know that Report Builder is modelled on SSRS for the Power BI Service.

I have used SSRS in the past with SQL Server (and all its advantages) and was wondering if it is worth pushing 'the gate police' here for SSRS install on my machine.  Currently using Report Builder with DAX querys hitting Power BI datasets sourced from Sharepoint Online.

As someone famously said recently 'I need ammunition ...'

If anyone has used SSRS concurrently with Report Builder files to enhance their report creation abilities then would be great to hear of your experiences.

Hi

I am trying to create a data source to the Fabric DB in SSRS, but none of the options available work. However I was able to create an embedded connection using ODBC, but that doesnt work on the shared data souce

Would you be able to help on how do we create a successful data source for use in my SSRS environment?
