Can I connnect to multiple Sematic Models at app.powerbi.com?

Hi. I'm trying to make Power BI Report at app.powerbi.com, not using Power BI Desktop.

I want to make a Power BI Report that connected multiple Semantic Models.

But I can't find the way to connect multiple Sematic Models.

I choose single Sematic Model and create Report, now I can't find the way to connect other Sementic Models.

In Power BI Desktop, there is a button to connect other Data Sources, but I can't find it at app.powerbi.com

Plz help me.

Hi @sjpark ,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

While the direct creation of reports connected to multiple Semantic Models in app.powerbi.com is currently not supported as it is in Power BI Desktop, you can use workarounds like composite models, and multiple reports to achieve similar outcomes.

Power BI Desktop to Create a Composite Model:

  1. Open Power BI Desktop and click on Get Data to Connect to your Semantic Models and Connect to your first Semantic Model and load the necessary tables.
  2. Create Relationships: Link tables as needed between the datasets.
  3. Publish to Power BI Service: Save and publish your Composite Model. Create Reports using the published model to build reports in app.powerbi.com.

   Creating Separate Reports:

  1. Create Individual Reports: For each Semantic Model, create and publish separate reports.
  2. Combine Insights: Use Dashboards to pin visuals from different reports for a unified view. Optionally, create Power BI Apps to bundle related reports and dashboards.

This approach allows you to effectively work with multiple Semantic Models and utilize insights across reports.

Hi @sjpark ,

Using desktop is better option as per my experience. You use analysis services XMLA endpoint and connect to the datasets/semantic models and pull the data.

Thanks,
