I would like to provide a service to companies which comprise the following step:
- Companies send me once a year information about their suppliers (no update needed during the year)
- I analyze the data and enrich it with further information
- Data analysis and visualization are done in Power BI and uploaded to app.powerbi.com
My idea is that I create a separate workspace for each customer (company) where I store the corresponding Power BI report. Then I add people from the foreign company as read-only persons for the report.
Am I missing something here or does it actually work that easily? Does anyone have experience in this area and know how companies accept such a solution?
Thanks for every reply. 🙂

Hi @FabiNeed
1.For the external user, you need to add them to the organiztion first, then you can grant them the related permission, you can refer to the following link to know more about how to add external user to the organization.
Distribute content to external guest users with Azure AD B2B - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
2.Then you can consider to create security group, then put the related people to the group.
e.g if you want to grant the user read permission, you can create a m365 group, then put the related users to the group, then add the group to the workspace, and only grant 'view' role.
You can refer to the following link to know about the security group.
Compare types of groups in Microsoft 365 - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn
Create a role-assignable group in Azure Active Directory - Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Learn
Assign Azure AD roles to groups - Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Learn
3.You need to consider that the user needs to have the related license, so that they can create report or edit, you can refer to the follwing link.
