Best Practices Sharing Dataset

Greetings everyone,

I have a semantic model with several data of the employees (Active_HC), such as name, date of admission, age, salary, gender, etc.

However, another area would like to have access to the same model, to use only the Name, Age and Gender information.

What would be the best practice for sharing this smaller model?

At first, I made a reference to the original table (Active_HC_gender) and removed all columns other than Name, Age and Gender. I published the model update and created a new semantic model with only this new table.

After that, I granted all the permissions of the new model to the collaborator of that other area.

Is this the correct/best way to carry out this sharing or is there another method?

Best Regards

My problem is actually different now.

The other area already has access to our Active_HC_gender report. But currently they extract an excel table and throw the file into a sharepoint, to use the information in their own Power BI.

Ideally, they should be able to connect their Power BI directly to our Active_HC_gender dataset, or directly in the Active_HC dataset, viewing only the information they need, because it would be a big problem if they could see the employees' salary data, for example.

Hi @gdps_vc

What you could do is on your existing semantic model, you could create a new report that only has got the columns that are required. You could then create an app audience and share this report with those selected users. This will allow you to have a single semantic model to manage and look after
