Benefits of E5 for view-only users + Power BI Premium Capacity

I understand the benefits of PBI Premium. And I understand that to stimulate a data-driven work culture, anyone who wants to build and authorize Power BI reports needs a Pro license (which comes with E5).

 

However, I don't understand whether having E5 benefits employees who only consume dashboards and never build (in a scenario where Power BI Premium capacity is purchased). For example, the integration with Microsoft Information Protection, only the builder needs a license if I am correct, so there is no added benefit there from a view-only perspective.

Hi @mmossel ,

 

Office 365 E5 includes Power BI Pro license. If those employees only consume dashboards, I think premium license is sufficient for them. Using Premium allows users with a free license to act on content in workspaces that are assigned to Premium capacity.

Let's rephrase - is there a difference between Power BI Pro standalone vs Power BI Pro via E5? Does it offer any additional integration features?

I think there is no difference between the Pro via E5 and Pro standalone in Power BI. But if you buy Office 365 E5, you can use other products, such as Team, Sharepoint, etc.

 

These products will connect your organization with professional online meetings, business-class email, instant messaging, and in-app file sharing. For example, Embed a report web part in SharePoint Online 

 

And them can also help your organization automate processes, plan and track projects, create workflows, and more.
