Azure DataBricks Refresh Failure on Power BI Service with On-Premises Gateway

Hi Fabric Community,

Our team recently moved from a Synapse SQL db to DataBricks.  Overall, it's been kind of wonky to use in Power BI, but mostly manageable except for refreshing on Power BI Service.

We have 3 models currently pointed to DataBricks (using a Gateway, ugh!) and what seems to be happening is that the refresh process, whether via API or via schedule, is failing sort of randomly.  See refresh schedule below - 2 failures, 4 completions.  It doesn't make any sense why this would work sometimes and not other times.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hi @garynorcrossmmc , hello sergej_og, thank you for your prompt reply!

Have you tried the recommendation from the other user?

Please let us know if it worked for you.

Hi @garynorcrossmmc ,
your error message gave you the hint Gateway...DataAccessError and ODBC.
How do you access your DBX environment?
Via a ODBC connection or using the native Azure Databricks connector?

Maybe there are parallel processes which interrupt eachother or your gateway cannot handle the data due to a lack of resources.

There are many possible reasons in the chain.
I use the native connector and data refresh in Service is quite fine (via gateway).

Regards.
