Hey everyone,
I am looking to see if anyone has had success with the Gen2 Utilization Metrics report. My main goal is that I want to combine this data with our Power BI API admin data, essentially creating a drillable capacity > workspace > dataset and so on, so that we can see what impact each user/workspace is having when we hit our overcapacity threshold.
The current report looks pretty poorly designed and rather clunky, not to mention that everything on the report is masked by some unknown source. For example, you cant see any of the measures actual DAX expressions to know what it is doing. (see below)
In order to fully understand what is going on, I would think the expressions would be visible.
So with that said, has anyone gotten to a point where they are able to connect to and transform any of these tables. The internet usually provides some luck, but not in this case... the topic seems relatively unmentioned. Something as simple as splitting the Artifact + ID column, would give me the ability to join that ID to my other report and help with a cross-referencing.
Thank you in advance to anyone that contributes to this.
Hi @cbardo13 ,
At this time, there is really no "edit" capability. You can save your own copy of the new usage metrics report and you can do some minor editing to it but you can't do any deep analysis or modifications - particularly that are based off of the data. Please review the Ideas (powerbi.com) to find something similar, or create your own and let us know about it and we can vote for it with you.

Thank you, I appreciate the response.
It is pretty unfortunate in the current data model as there is not a really good way to tie in Utilization metrics with REST - API. However, it does appear that there was another update to the Utilization Metrics app and now they have the ArtifactID/WorkspaceID which does help a bit.
Would be extremely helpful if I can find a way to tie the ActivityID from the APIs to the Activity in Utilization metrics, would really give a whole picture as to what is being utilized in the capacity during spikes. I'll probably put in a feature request if I cant figure something out.
Thanks again for clarifying.
